Radevic Estate is the story of a family that lost a home to a hurricane and answered with a vineyard. When Hurricane Ivan destroyed their house in the Cayman Islands in 2004, Dr. Goran Radevic and his wife Renee returned to Montenegro, to Rogami above the Zeta River, where the family line has grown vines for generations. The estate took shape from 2007, with the first harvest in 2009.
Today father and son work the south facing slope at sixty metres above the river, Luka a trained oenologist, with Vranac beside Syrah, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. Tastings run by appointment through the year except January, two hours of wines with ports, fruit brandies and the estate's own cognac, ten minutes from Podgorica and five from the Roman ruins of Duklja.
Tastings are by appointment for groups of two to ten, daily from 10:00 to 20:00, with the estate closed throughout January. Two hours include six wines, a dessert wine, the estate brandy, fruit schnapps and small bites, ten minutes from Podgorica and five minutes from the Roman ruins of Duklja.
The house stands at the head of the vineyard on a south-facing slope, sixty metres above the river, making it an easy afternoon for a small group arriving from the capital or the coast. An on-site boutique offers oils, candles, tasting glasses and the family honey, allowing a visit to end with a gift.
